There is a calmness found in the exact center of a storm, something best exemplified by a cat sleeping--chaos may engulf the world but a nap can cure it all. I went for a couple of rides last week that were very much like that-storm clouds all around with a bubble of serenity surrounding me. Sometimes it seems my life is like that, a calm center where I exist witin a chaotic world.

Right at the moment we are back in the clutches of Old Man Winter so there won't be any riding this week from the looks of it. Yesterday the wind maxed out at 85 kph. Seeing as I ride at a maximum speed of perhaps 20 kph downhill, I would have wound up going bacwards at around 65 kph if I could have even remained upright--not an experiment I'm anxious to try.
In spite of the storm clouds there were definite signs of spring to be found. Trees are beginning to bud and there are hints of green in the dusty brown of a parched landscape. Much as I may resent the snow and not being able to get out riding there is no doubt it will do the land a world of good.
