And So It Begins...

Snow Biking 2010
The 2010 bike season has begun, just eleven days into the new year. A bike ride in January? Are you serious? The Chinook warmed things up and the sun was shining so I figured why not? I couldn’t get through the snow to go around the south end of the lake down to the bridge but managed to go for about three or four kilometers down the canal before the drifts defeated me. Riding in slushy deep snow is a bit like riding in mud—a whole lot of effort to move very slowly. Still, it was fun! I took a few pictures and started the season off. For the eleventh of January, it was more than enough.

The weather was fantastic, a balmy plus eight with next to no wind. The sun was shining and for some strange reason I seemed to be the only cyclist out there. I went riding right after work, a first for me and a test. Now I don't have to wait for my days off to arrive. Slushy Bikepath
If the weather's decent, I can be there by three and get an hour or two in before sundown even this time of year.
