Given the abundance of gophers out there it is strange that up till now I have not managed to capture one--they seldom stay put long enough for me to get the camera out. The weasel surprised the heck out of me. I was just sitting on the end of the railway bridge enjoying a snack when he suddenly appeared.

Sunrise photos are becoming a staple with my wife and I heading out to the lake together at least once a month. Last time I forgot to change out the batteries in my camera and only got a relatively few shots before it went dead--the AA's don't last all that long when it's cold.

The Red-tail Hawks have returned and circle over the golf course--good thing they haven't developed a taste for golf balls yet. The songbirds are all back and the chorus is incredible, especially in the wetland areas.
Even Wiley Coyote, a familiar sight this spring, has always bolted whenever I stopped--until now. Here he is in all his glory--not exactly the starved animal you see fruitlessly chasing the roadrunner in Saturday mornings. He is sleek, well-fed and not at all afraid of me.

The ducks and geese are everywhere, most hovering around nests waiting for their eggs to hatch. So far there appears to be only one couple with any goslings but I'm sure I'll see more in the weeks to come.SPR 14 5106

Very few flowers as yet but now that I've discovered the Macro setting I am looking forward to seeing more. Once again, this little camera amazes me.

There are far more than a mere four and twenty blackbirds to be found out there these days with all three varieties to be found in abundance.
