Doris Day Was Right!

Chinook Cloudiness

A long time ago Doris Day had her own television show and the theme song was Que Sera, Sera or Whatever Will Be Will Be. She was so right; there are some things you can change and some you cannot. I am both a notorious fence sitter and a worryer. I second guess myself constantly and even after events are in motion, fret about the outcome.

Why? No good reason since the outcome is seldom if ever affected one way or the other. It all comes down to the philosophy laid down in the Desiderata. Change what you can, accept the rest and move on.

Lately we've all seen the buses telling us not to worry since there "probably" is no God and thus (presumably) no one we have to answer to for the way we have lived our lives. I still find their use of the word "probably" amusing since I have since seen buses with the simple declarative that God loves you even if you don't believe. No "probably" here, just a simple declaration.

No, I have not sudenly found religion but at the same time I have not joined the other camp just yet. The plain and simple fact is I don't know. Fate, free will, predestination: all food for thought but no one can really come to any solid conclusions any more than we can reliably predict earthquakes. In the case of eathquakes, being able to predict them is also not enough--you also have to get people to believe you.

Whatever will be, will be.
